MuscleNerd, of the iPhone Dev Team (creators of the Pwnage Tool, redsn0w, and ultrasn0w) posted a screenshot in Twitter today, showing an iPhone on firmware 3.1.2, with the 4.26.08 baseband. This means they have a jailbreak for this firmware, and may release it anytime.

MuscleNerd had this to say:

“ultrasn0w unlock still going strong on 3.1.2 as long as you stay onboard the custom IPSW train”

They might update Pwnage Tool, or they may wait and release a new redsn0w. We’ll have to wait and see.

On a side note, GeoHot is getting closer to releasing his new jailbreak, Blackra1n. Apparently, he just has sone bugs to sort out with the iPod Touch 3g, then he will release it.

UPDATE: (Oct 12, 2009), CPICH, of the iPhone Dev Team, had this to say, on Twitter today:

“Pwnage Tool version PI for OS 3.1.2 test went smoothly. Thanks to Paige and Bumble for testing.”

We could see a release anytime now.
