Some pics are showing up on the web today, of a label from some iPhone packaging, saying that it is for an iPhone 3GS, 8GB.

The story is, a fellow in Germany ordered an 8GB, refurbished, iPhone 3G. When he received it, he was surprised to read the packaging as iPhone 3GS. Is this a simple labeling error, or is this actual packaging for an upcoming change to the current iPhone 3G? It would make sense to upgrade the current 3G to a 3GS, and fits in line with the type of upgrades they have been doing with the MacBook Pro line.

Apple has an event planned for January 26th, so maybe we’ll get an announcement then? We’ll have to wait and see.
